Two key issues presented themselves to the Melbourne City Council at Fitzroy Gardens. Firstly a large non compliant multi part grate was positioned in a key pedestrian area. Secondly the grating installed was allowing cigarette butts into the water reticulation system, contaminating the water. Melbourne City council and Serco engaged ORCA Civil Products to design and deliver custom made Griptech grating to solve both of the identified issues.
ORCA Griptech has the highest slip resistant rating of P5. Griptech is also heelsafe and in this case we decreased the bar gap size to 3mm to prevent contaminants from entering the water reticulation system.
